His Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj
His Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj is the Crown Prince of Selangor, proclaimed in 2002 and formally installed as the 9th Crown Prince of Selangor in 2016 at Alam Shah Palace, Klang.
His Highness received his early education at Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur and later at Wellington College, England. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Ecology and Environmental Biology from the University of Leeds. Demonstrating a strong commitment to national service, His Highness underwent military training at Malaysian Army Academy (Akademi Tentera Darat) in Port Dickson and subsequently completed the Commissioning Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, United Kingdom.
He was commissioned into the 17th Battalion, Royal Malay Regiment (Rejimen Askar Melayu Diraja) and has progressed through the ranks to Captain, serving as Platoon Leader for the Assault Pioneer Platoon of the 17th Battalion, Royal Malay Regiment (Rintis Serang 17 RAMD PARA). His military career reflects discipline, leadership, and dedication to service. Throughout his royal tenure, His Highness has represented Selangor and Malaysia at significant state occasions and international engagements, including royal coronations and jubilee celebrations in Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, and Brunei Darussalam, as well as the 256th Rulers’ Conference at Istana Negara.
His Highness has been conferred numerous royal honours, including the Knight Grand Commander of the Order of the Crown of Selangor (Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor) [S.P.M.S.], the official heir of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (S.S.I.S.) in 2010, Knight Grand Commander of the Order of the Crown of Kelantan (Seri Paduka Mahkota Kelantan) [S.P.M.K.], and Most Esteemed Royal Family Order (Darjah Kerabat Yang Amat Dihormati) [D.K.] Selangor.
In the sporting and community arena, His Highness was appointed President of the Football Association of Selangor in 2018 and has actively participated in the Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta (RMSIR). He is also a patron of several charitable and youth-focused organisations, including the Crown Prince of Selangor Foundation (Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor) and the Selangor Youth Community, and was appointed Royal Fellow of Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2018.
His Highness continues to play an active role in strengthening institutional leadership, youth development, and community engagement within the State of Selangor and beyond.
